Good budgeting tool, easy to use

I signed up for the Premium Subscription to track my net worth and try out the Quicken data import. The process for importing was pretty straightforward, though it took a little while to get all my historical data in. I found the interface clean and ad-free, which was a big plus. Customer support responded within a day when I had a question about categorizing some recurring transactions. It's working well for my budgeting needs.

Great value with annual plan

I was looking for a replacement for Mint and CountAbout seemed like a good option. I went for the annual Premium Subscription after the 45-day free trial. The annual discount made it a lot more affordable than paying monthly. It felt like a solid investment for the features you get, especially being able to import all my old data. Definitely feel like I got good value for my money compared to other options I looked at.

Solid option, some small quirks

I purchased the Premium Subscription after comparing it to a few other services. The setup for automatic bank downloads went smoothly, and I appreciate the ad-free interface; it truly makes a difference. I also liked the option to import my old Mint data, which saved me a lot of manual entry. My only small gripe is that the mobile app, while functional, felt a little less intuitive than the desktop version for some of the more detailed reporting. Overall, a very capable budgeting tool and a good value, but the app could use a minor refresh.

So happy I switched!

OMG, I finally switched from my old finance software to CountAbout's Premium Subscription and I'm so glad I did! The automatic transaction downloading is a lifesaver, and seeing my net worth all in one place is just fantastic. It's so user-friendly and looks really clean. I'm telling everyone I know about it!

Clean interface, useful features

Got the Basic Subscription. Easy to set up. Automatic transaction downloading works fine. No ads, which is nice. Good for basic financial tracking.

is the mobile app any good? i do a lot of my budgeting on the go.

O Omar L. 2 months ago
It's decent, gets the job done. Not super flashy but functional for checking balances and adding transactions quickly.

The mobile app is fine for basic stuff, like checking categories or logging quick expenses. For deeper dives or setting up new things, I still prefer using the desktop site.

how does this compare to monarch money? i'm trying to decide between the two for my budgeting.

N Neil K. 2 months ago
Monarch is a bit fancier with its UI, but CountAbout is really solid for basic budgeting and importing old data, especially from Quicken. Monarch is newer, CountAbout feels more established. Depends on what features you prioritize.

I switched from Monarch to CountAbout. Monarch felt a little too busy for me. CountAbout is definitely more no-frills, which I actually prefer for just tracking things. Plus, no ads ever, which is a huge bonus.

are there any discounts if you pay annually instead of monthly? trying to save a bit.

T Tom 2 months ago
Yeah, you save a decent chunk by paying annually. I think it works out to about 15-20% cheaper than the monthly rate over a year. Totally worth it if you plan to stick with it.

C Cleo 2 months ago
Definitely. The annual discount is pretty standard. It's usually the best way to get a lower price if you're committed to using it for a while.

i'm a student, any chance of a student discount here?

R Renee Patel 1 month ago
I'm not sure if they have a specific student discount, but they do offer discounts for some groups like non-profits and military. It wouldn't hurt to ask their support directly.

N Nick Foster 1 month ago
I haven't seen a student discount advertised, but I've heard they sometimes have special codes. Maybe shoot them an email? Could be worth a shot.

i'm still on mint and looking to switch. any special deals for us mint refugees?

J James G. 2 months ago
I've heard they sometimes have promo codes specifically for people migrating from Mint or other services. Might be worth checking their site or contacting support, I've seen it mentioned before.

T Todd Carter 2 months ago
Yeah, I think I saw something about that a while back. Not a permanent thing, but they do offer codes for switching sometimes. Keep an eye out or ask directly.

hey, was wondering about the free trial. is it really 45 days? and do you need to put in card details right away?

N Nina 2 months ago
Yep, it's 45 days. I just signed up last week and haven't had to add my card yet. It asks later if you decide to keep it.

T Troy Osei 2 months ago
Can confirm, 45 days is accurate. No card needed to start the trial, which is nice. Gives you plenty of time to check it out.

does countabout sell your data or show ads? i'm really trying to avoid that.

R Renee 1 month ago
Nope, it's explicitly ad-free and they state they don't sell your data. That's one of the main reasons I picked them over other options. Big privacy focus.

A Anna Okafor 1 month ago
That's a huge plus for CountAbout. No ads at all, and they're pretty clear about not selling your info. It's a private tool, which I appreciate.

can you actually import all your old transactions from quicken? i have years of data i don't want to lose.

M Mark Q. 2 months ago
Absolutely. That's one of their main selling points. I brought over like 5 years of Quicken data with no issues. It was pretty straightforward.

G Gwen S. 2 months ago
Yep, that feature works great. I was worried too, but my Quicken import went smoothly. Just follow their instructions and you should be good.
